Budget app for couples
A shared budget for the two of you, without handing your data to anyone
Create a shared space, invite your partner and track your household money together: shared wallets, budgets and transactions on both phones. It syncs through your own Google Drive, so we never see it, and your personal space stays private.
- Free for your partner to join
- Syncs through your Google Drive
- A role for each member
- No bank connection
How a shared space works
A space is a separate set of wallets, budgets and transactions. Your personal space is just yours; a shared space is the one you run together.
One shared space, both phones
Everything in a shared space syncs between members in the background. Invite your partner by email; they accept from the app's notification bell or by entering the invitation code.
Choose what each person can do
Admins and editors can edit every entry. Contributors add freely but edit or delete only their own entries. Viewers can look but not touch. Handy for a teenager or a parent who helps out.
Shared wallets and budgets
The joint account, the grocery budget, the holiday fund: put them in the shared space and both of you add expenses to the same place, so the totals are always the real ones.
Wallets only you spend from
Mark a wallet as private and only you can record spending from it. Others can still transfer money into it.
See who changed what
The activity feed lists who added, edited or deleted what over roughly the last 30 days, for every member to see. No more "who moved that?"
Your data is never held hostage
If the owner's Premium lapses, the space becomes read-only for everyone, and nothing is deleted. Renewing unlocks it again, or a member can copy the space into a new one they own.
Private, even when shared
Sharing with your partner shouldn't mean sharing with us.
- A shared space syncs through the owner's own Google Drive, not our servers. We can't see it.
- Your personal space stays on your phone. Your partner sees only what you put in the shared space.
- Every member sees the same activity feed, so changes are never hidden.
- You decide each member's role, and you can change it or remove them at any time.
What you need to know
Better to know now than after you've set it up.
- The person who creates the shared space needs Premium and a Google account, because the space syncs through their Google Drive.
- Your partner must sign in (with Google or Apple) to join. Joining is free.
- It doesn't connect to your bank or split bills automatically. You add transactions or import a CSV file.
Questions about budgeting together
Does my partner have to pay?
No. Joining a shared space is free. Only the person who creates and owns the space needs Premium.
What can my partner see and change?
Only what is in the shared space, never your personal space. What they can change depends on the role you give them: viewer, contributor, editor or admin.
Can I keep some money just to myself?
Yes. Your personal space is separate and stays on your phone. Inside the shared space you can also make a wallet private, so only you can spend from it.
What happens if the owner stops paying for Premium?
The shared space turns read-only for everyone, and nothing is lost. Renewing Premium unlocks it. Volora warns three days before a trial ends.
Where is our data stored?
On each member's phone, synced through the owner's Google Drive. The Drive folder is shared with the members you invite. We have no access to it.
Can we use different phones?
Yes. Volora runs on Android and iOS, so one of you can have an iPhone and the other an Android phone.
