How budgeting works in Volora
Budgets belong to projects, like "Household" or "Holiday", so each part of your life gets its own plan and its own cycle.
Budgets that renew on a cycle
Each budget restarts daily, weekly, monthly or yearly, or runs once for a set date range. Every past cycle stays in its history, so you can compare months.
Three levels: project, category, sub-category
Give a project one total, then split it across categories and sub-categories. Start from one of 13 built-in project templates or build your own.
Rollover, if you want it
Unspent money can carry over into the next cycle. You can also have overspending taken off next cycle's budget, so the plan stays honest.
See what's left
The app shows how much of each budget is left until the cycle ends, with an optional day-by-day view.
Budget and low-balance alerts
Get a notification when a budget is running out or a wallet drops below the balance you set.
Built for more than one currency
Keep wallets in any currency, crypto included. Balances show in the wallet's own currency and your main currency, each transaction keeps the exchange rate of its day, and Insights shows how exchange rates have moved your money.
Private by design
Volora is built so that we can't see your finances, even if we wanted to.
- Your data stays on your device. Personal spaces never leave it.
- Encrypted backups and shared spaces go through your own Google Drive, not our servers.
- You can use the whole app before creating an account.
- Import bank statements as CSV files; duplicates are detected for you.
What Volora doesn't do
Better to know now than after you've set it up.
- It doesn't connect to your bank. You add transactions yourself or import a CSV file.
- It doesn't move money or make payments. It tracks and plans.
- It isn't a tax or accounting tool.
Questions about the app
Is Volora free?
Yes. Budgets and cycles, wallets, transactions, categories, CSV import, Insights and backups to your own Google Drive are all in the free version. Premium adds extras such as owning shared spaces.
Does it connect to my bank account?
No. Volora never asks for your bank login. You add transactions in a few taps or import a CSV export from your bank.
Where is my data stored?
On your phone. If you sign in, backups go to your own Google Drive, and shared spaces sync through it. We have no access to your data.
Does it handle multiple currencies and crypto?
Yes. Wallets can be in any currency, including crypto, and totals can be shown in your main or your home currency. Every transaction keeps the rate from the day it happened, and Insights shows your gain or loss from exchange rates. Rates update every 30 days on the free plan and daily on Premium, which can also refresh them on demand. For currencies without a live rate, you add a custom currency with your own rate.
Can I budget with my partner or family?
Yes, with a shared space. The person who creates it needs Premium and a Google Drive account; the people they invite join with a role, from viewer to admin.
Which phones does it run on?
Android and iOS.
