How net worth tracking works in Volora

Every account is a wallet. Volora knows which wallets are assets and which are debts, and adds them up for you.

Every kind of account

24 wallet types: cash, current and savings accounts, brokerage, retirement and crypto, your home and investment property, credit cards, mortgages and loans. Debts count against your total automatically.

Net worth on your home screen

Assets minus debts, how much that changed over the period, and a small trend chart. "Hide amounts" keeps the numbers off screen when someone is looking over your shoulder.

Loans and mortgages, worked out

Loan and mortgage wallets project your monthly payment over the remaining term. The wealth page shows what your debt costs each year and how many months until it's repaid.

A full wealth page

Total Wealth adds your real return after inflation, your savings rate and how many months your cash would cover your spending. Money locked in a term deposit counts towards net worth, but not towards that cash runway.

FIRE number and diversification

See your FIRE number (25 or 33 times your yearly spending) and how far along you are, plus a risk rating that tells you when too much of your wealth sits in one place.

Wealth in more than one currency

Keep each wallet in its own currency, crypto included, and see the total in your main or your home currency. Insights shows how much exchange rates have added to or taken from your wealth.

Private by design

Volora is built so that we can't see your finances, even if we wanted to.

  • Your data stays on your device. Personal spaces never leave it.
  • Encrypted backups and shared spaces go through your own Google Drive, not our servers.
  • You can use the whole app before creating an account.
  • "Hide amounts" hides your balances on screen whenever you want.

What Volora doesn't do

Better to know now than after you've set it up.

  • It doesn't connect to your bank or broker. You add transactions, import a CSV file or adjust a balance yourself.
  • It doesn't look up share or property prices. Update those values when you check them; currency and crypto wallets are converted with exchange rates.
  • It doesn't trade or give investment advice. It tracks and explains.

Questions about tracking net worth

Is the net worth tracker free?

Yes. The net worth card, the Total Wealth page, every wallet type and Insights are in the free version. Premium adds extras such as owning shared spaces and refreshing exchange rates on demand.

What counts as an asset and what as a debt?

Credit cards, mortgages and personal, student and business loans count as debts. Everything else, from cash and savings to investments, crypto and property, counts as an asset. Wallets you exclude from statistics are left out of the totals.

Should I add my home if I have a mortgage?

Yes: add the home as a property wallet with its value, and the mortgage as a debt. If you only add the mortgage, Volora counts the original loan amount as the home's value, so your net worth doesn't show a large negative number.

How do I keep investment values up to date?

Record a balance adjustment when you check your broker or pension statement. Currency and crypto wallets are converted with exchange rates, which update every 30 days on the free plan and daily on Premium.

Where is my data stored?

On your phone. If you sign in, backups go to your own Google Drive, and shared spaces sync through it. We have no access to your data.

Which phones does it run on?

Android and iOS.
